FAQs
Do you only treat stuttering?
1
Yes. Hudson Valley Speech Therapy is currently focused specifically on stuttering evaluations, therapy, and consultation.
Is the goal of therapy to become fluent?
2
Not necessarily. Some clients may want to explore speech strategies, and that can absolutely be part of therapy. But therapy is not built around the idea that stuttering must disappear. Goals are individualized and may include confidence, participation, self-advocacy, reducing avoidance, understanding stuttering, or changing the way a client responds to speaking moments.
Do you work with children and teens?
3
Yes. Therapy is available for children (ages 7 and older) and teens who stutter, as well as consultation for families and school teams.
Do you offer teletherapy?
4
Yes. Teletherapy may be available depending on the client’s needs, location, and clinical appropriateness.
Do you accept insurance?
5
Hudson Valley Speech Therapy is a private-pay practice and does not currently accept insurance. Superbills may be provided upon request for families who would like to seek out-of-network reimbursement. A limited number of reduced-fee spots may be available based on financial need.
